Parent Companion

A guide for parents and guardians of students ages 7-12 using TGA 1-on-1 tutoring — your role, what to expect, and what to do if something feels wrong.

1

Your role during tutoring

Kids (ages 7-9): a parent or guardian must be in the same physical room for the full session. Tweens (ages 10-12): a parent or designated adult must be on the same property at session start and reachable on the verified channel throughout. Your child should know how to get your attention quickly.

Help your child sign in, open the scheduled session from My Dashboard, and use Join Session at the right time.

Keep the session in a suitable shared or supervised setting. You do not need to teach the lesson — the tutor leads learning.

Check the parent progress update after each session, and any weekly summary TGA provides, so you can see your child's learning focus, evidence, and next step.

If something feels wrong, pause or leave the session and act right away. Your child's safety comes first.

2

Before the session

Use your child's approved Academy account — do not share passwords or let a child create a separate, unsupervised account.

Go to academy.tantaglobal.com, sign in, and open My Dashboard to find the upcoming tutoring session. Confirm the tutor name, date, displayed session time, and the applicable session length: Kids (7-9) are capped at 25 minutes; Tweens (10-12) at 35 minutes.

Prepare a quiet, supervised learning space and check the device, camera, microphone, and internet connection.

Tell your child: “If you feel confused, uncomfortable, or worried, tell me right away. You can leave the session.”

3

At session time

Open the scheduled session from My Dashboard and select Join Session. The live room opens right in the app or browser — no extra software is required.

Follow the presence rule for your child's age band throughout the session. If you are the reachable adult for a Tween, keep the verified channel available and make sure your child knows exactly how to reach you.

Let the tutor work directly with your child. Step in only if your child asks for help, the tutor asks you to help, or you see a safety concern.

4

Progress updates

You will receive a parent-readable update within 24 hours after each session: start/end time, tutor display name and age band, a summary in your chosen language, any safeguarding flag with a direct contact, and recording/retention information where applicable. A weekly summary, if provided, supplements rather than replaces that update. Read it with your child if helpful — it is not a demand that you reteach the lesson.

If something feels wrong

1

Tell your child to stop the activity or leave the session. They will not be in trouble for speaking up.

2

Stay with your child and listen. Do not ask your child to continue a session to ‘see what happens.’

3

Write down the date, time, tutor/session name, and a short factual description of what happened.

4

Use the safety or support contact path named in the Academy, session communication, or parent progress update. If there is immediate danger, use local emergency services first.

5

Do not share screenshots, recordings, or your child’s account credentials publicly.
